Claude Team vs Pro vs Enterprise: Which Plan a Business Needs

A plain comparison of Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise for a business: what each costs, what each adds, how your data is treated, and when to move up.

Updated 2026-10-24

Direct Answer

Pro is for one person. Max is for one person who needs more usage than Pro. Team is the business plan for 2 to 150 people: shared projects, central billing, single sign-on and admin controls, and no model training on your content by default. Enterprise adds the controls a larger or regulated organisation needs, such as SCIM, audit logs, role-based access and custom data retention, from 20 seats, billed annually. Most small businesses start on Pro and move to Team once a second person uses Claude for company work.

Everything below is from Anthropic's pricing page as read on 24 October 2026. Prices are in US dollars before tax. Plans change, so check claude.com/pricing before you buy.

The Difference That Matters Most for a Business

On Free, Pro and Max, Anthropic's pricing page lists model training as "Opt-out". On Team and Enterprise it is "None by default". If staff will put customer or company information into Claude, that default is a reason to put them on Team rather than on personal Pro accounts, separate from any feature.

The second difference is ownership. On personal plans each person's projects, instructions and history belong to their own account and leave with them. On Team, projects can be shared, the organisation can set instructions and deploy skills for everyone, and an administrator controls who has a seat.

Team vs Pro: When to Move

Move from Pro to Team when any of these is true:

  • Two or more people use Claude for company work.
  • You want everyone working from the same instructions, price lists and procedures.
  • You need to add and remove people centrally, or sign in with your company's identity provider.
  • Staff are putting customer information into Claude.

Team seats can be mixed. Most people need a Standard seat; give a Premium seat only to someone who regularly runs out of usage.

Team vs Enterprise: When to Move

Anthropic describes Enterprise as everything in Team plus advanced security and admin controls. Move when you need one of those controls, not for the model: Team already includes Claude Code and the same Claude features. The usual triggers are an IT or compliance requirement for SCIM provisioning, audit logs, role-based permissions, custom retention, or network-level access control. With a 20-seat minimum and annual billing only, Enterprise rarely fits a small business.

Pro vs Max

Max is the same individual plan with more usage: 5x or 20x Pro, priority at busy times, and higher output limits. It suits one person who hits Pro's limits most weeks. It has none of Team's admin or data defaults, so it is not a substitute for Team in a company.

Choosing Is the Easy Part

The plan decides what Claude may do. It does not decide whether Claude knows your business, follows your procedures or is connected to your records. That is setup work. See how to set up Claude for your business, or have a Claude consultant do it.

FAQ

What is the difference between Claude Team and Claude Pro? Pro is a personal plan. Team is a business plan for 2 to 150 people with shared projects, organisation instructions, central billing, single sign-on, admin controls, and no model training on your content by default.

What is the difference between Claude Team and Claude Enterprise? Enterprise includes everything in Team plus SCIM, audit logs, role-based access, a Compliance API, custom data retention and network-level controls. It is annual only, with a 20-seat minimum, priced at US$20 a seat plus usage.

How many people do you need for Claude Team? At least 2 and up to 150, according to Anthropic's pricing page on 24 October 2026.

Does Claude train on my business data? On Team and Enterprise, Anthropic's pricing page says there is no model training on your content by default. On Free, Pro and Max you can opt out.

Is Claude Max worth it for a business? Only for one heavy individual user. For a team, Team is the right plan, because Max has no shared projects, admin controls or business data defaults.

Summary

Pro is personal, Max is personal with more usage, Team is the business plan for 2 to 150 people, and Enterprise adds compliance controls from 20 seats. For most small businesses the decision is Pro for the first person, then Team as soon as a second person uses Claude for company work.
